| Sitting in Tom's trailer with loud PA guys, I missed California,Ted called some girls to come over at around 3 am and they did come over, their names were Jen and Cindy and Cindy wore a bright red shirt and I envied her confidence, we became good friends and she traveled to West Virginia to visit me and we talked on the phone for hours and I envied her unexhausted spirit, we drove around Allentown and she called me a sap for liking a Whitney Houston song as she expressed sadness that Julia Roberts had left Keifer Sutherland standing at the alter, I moved back to California and Cindy came to visit with Jen and Sissy and they slept in my car in the street so as not to disturb their allergies,, and they trashed my bedroom and Sissy threw up out a car window and we all swam in a Public Pool at 2am, and went to a Rave with strange guys, I envied Cindy's adaptability, I spent a Thanksgiving with Cindy in her Brooklyn Apt., she let me watch Football and we ate Swansons Turkey with Stove Top Stuffing and I missed home and she made that cold Brooklyn Apartment with no furniture seem like home and I envied her strength in self-reliance, I moved to New York and Cindy was my roommate in a small apartment on E 92nd St., she slept on a deflated air mattress and drank Coke and ate Onion Bagels and smoked in the mornings,, she gladly accepted the unacceptable,, I envied her unconventional intelligence, we played board games with fierce competition and others would not play with us, and sometimes she won and I made excuses and sometimes I won and she made excuses, I envied Cindy's vibrancy, she told me that I could not help people the way I wanted to and she was right, but she could, we adopted a cat and went to a Sting concert at Jones Beach, we got along and we didn't get along, I met my Wife to be in New York and drifted from Cindy then, I miss her greatly, I believe she made me a better person and husband and Father,,and I envy they way in which she improved so many lives... | Another time when I was laid off Cindy & Rich offered (probably mostly Cindy, Rich never had money!) me a ridiculous sum of money to run to Trenton, NJ, to try and find some information on their family history. The people at the government office I visited were no help whatsoever with the information Cindy & Rich wanted, but Cindy wanted me to take the money anyway. I didn't, but what a thoughtful gesture. Thats just the type of person Cindy was. And finally, before Rich moved to NY we'd go visit Cindy, and she'd never let us pay for anything - dinner, cab fare, whatever it was, she took care of it. I consider myself extremely lucky to have known Cindy, she left a lasting impression on all of us. Terry Anthony March 11, 2002 |
